Getting to Cairo

Cairo International Airport (CIA) is served by the country’s national airline, Egypt Air as well as other airlines such as British Airways, Air France, KLM, Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa and budget carriers such as TUI-fly and Jet-Air-Fly.
Travel for less with other modes of transport to Cairo. Buses arrive to Cairo from all over the country offering convenience of travel but another mode of transport for many tourists and visitors is by train. If you are getting from other regions and cities within Egypt, trains ply every day from Cairo’s main railway station, Ramses Station (Mahattat Ramses).
Transportation
As one of the only African cities with a metro system, Cairo metro system is modern and sleek and fully functional for use as well as the most comfortable. But if you are looking for short trips around town, the fleet of black-and-white taxis that ply Cairo's streets are affordable.

- Khan El Khalily, Cairo's souk area where visitors can haggle and bargain with merchants selling perfume, spices, Gold and Egyptian handicraft
- Abdeen Palace, home of the last king of Egypt, the exiled king Farouk
- Pharaonic Village that’s just twenty minutes from Downtown
There are a few other activities apart from sightseeing to take up most of your time. Catch a performance at the Cairo Opera House, go horseback riding, visit the Zoo and Cairo Botanical Gardens to name a few.
Time your trip
The best time to visit the city is during the more temperate months where you can expect to spend most of your time outdoors. Another good time to visit Cairo is in the fall or spring when it’s not too hot and is highly recommended.
