Salzburg

The Salt Castle

The birthplace of Mozart and the picturesque set of the famous movie, Sound of Music, Salzburg is the fourth-largest city in Austria. One of the best-preserved city centres, Salzburg’s Old Town has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for over a decade.

Salzburg is a favourite among many tourists, and sometimes the number of tourists outnumbers locals by a large margin in the peak season.

Getting there

The Salzburg W.A. Mozart International Airport connects to many European destinations. Check online for great deals on discount fares from international airlines and indulge in all-inclusive holidays to this historic city. While driving around can be unbearable, there are inter-city and international trains that ply frequently from various cities.

Transportation

The best way to get around Salzburg is by foot. There is a network of city buses which cover the whole city star-shaped from the center. If you are out at night and need to get somewhere it’s best to either take a taxi or walk.
