Location
Situated in the very center of Rome, Rhinoceros Roma was founded by Alda Fendi in 2018, positioning it as a recent addition to the hospitality industry. The Fendi name is probably recognizable, and this is not without justification, as Alda is the youngest of the five daughters in the Fendi family.
Room
Rhinoceros Roma was entirely realized by Alda and is an integral component of a broader initiative associated with her arts organization, Fondazione Alda Fendi Esperimenti. The establishment provides lodging through 25 apartments, and within its premises, visitors can also discover an art gallery, a performance venue, a restaurant, and a rooftop bar. Situated in a 17th-century palazzo in the Velabro district, the property honors the historical importance of its surroundings, offering a delightful experience for both tourists and residents.
Had the privilege of residing in the Master Suite Apartment, which offered stunning views of the Temple of Hercules Victor. The room was bathed in natural light throughout the day, thanks to the large windows.
The environment was truly delightful for the short stay. Enjoyed a substantial dining table that accommodated eight people, along with a separate living room and ample bedroom and bathroom spaces.
The bathroom was entirely crafted from stainless steel, imparting a nearly futuristic appearance. This modern design element was also present in the kitchen, discreetly concealed behind a wall of stainless steel panels. With a simple switch, the upper section would open to unveil a fully equipped kitchen featuring a variety of appliances.
Amenities
The ground level of the venue is home to a significant component of Alda Fendis arts foundation, known as the Rhinoceros Gallery. Every six months, the gallery undergoes a transformation in its exhibitions, providing a platform for a diverse array of international talent.
In 2018, the gallery featured a sculpture attributed to Michelangelo Buonarroti, known as the Crouching Boy. This piece was loaned to the Rhinoceros by The State Hermitage Museum and marked its inaugural display in Rome. During our visit, the gallery was presenting works by French artist Ronan Bouroullec, which represented his first solo exhibition outside of Paris. The gallerys ability to secure such exclusive pieces underscores its esteemed reputation.
Dining
During the stay in the Master Suite Apartment, we were fortunate to enjoy stunning views of the Temple of Hercules Victor. The room was bathed in natural light throughout the day, thanks to the large windows.
The accommodation was truly delightful for our short visit. It featured a spacious dining area with an eight-person table, a separate living room, and ample bedroom and bathroom spaces.
On the upper levels, one can find Rhino’s onsite restaurant, Le Restau De La Galerie. This elegant establishment draws inspiration from Roman traditions, offering a menu that highlights the finest Italian cuisine.
Guests can indulge in a continental breakfast within the comfort of their room, as the refrigerator is stocked daily with items such as yogurt, eggs, granola, and fresh fruit. Additionally, one may opt for a basket of sweet and savory pastries delivered to their door each morning. We thoroughly enjoyed beginning our day in the comfort of our room, taking advantage of the beautiful view at every opportunity.
Rhinos rooftop bar serves as an ideal location for pre-dinner drinks, offering a panoramic view of the city. This experience was particularly memorable for us, as the atmosphere was vibrant and enjoyable. A DJ provided an excellent musical backdrop, drinks were plentiful (including a complimentary glass of Prosecco upon arrival), and shortly after our arrival, a tray of delectable snacks was presented at our table.
