Originally dating from the 16th century you will find the Old Rectory down a quiet country lane nestling at the foot of an old iron age fort. It is just 3 miles from the county town of Taunton and 10 minutes drive from the first declared area of Oustanding Natural Beauty the Quantock Hills. Close by are Hestercombe Gardens Fyne Court and the West Somserset Railway (the longest steam railway in the country). We are a convenient location for visiting family and friends at 40 Commando Royal Marine Camp The Somerser Heritage Centre Nuffield Hospital Musgrove Park Hospital. Oake Manor Golf Club and The Somerset County Cricket ground is also nearby. Accomodation consists of three double bedrooms one of which can be utilised as a twin. There is a guest sitting room with television and in the winter an open fire. All bedrooms are ensuite two with shower and one with bath/electric shower. All rooms overlook a large rear garden and beyond to open farmland. Each room has its own library of books for guests to enjoy. A range of ordnance survey maps of the local area is available to borrow or buy. Beyond the Quantock Hills there is the spectacular scenery and coastline of the Brendon Hills and Exmoor National Park. To the south and west there are the Brendon Hills and the sandy beaches of the South Devon and Dorset coastline. One of our double rooms can be utilised as a twin room with a thermostatic shower washbasin and WC. This room can also be used as a family room for under 16 year olds. Directions:
The Old Rectory is towards the country end of a no-through road. From the village travel down Rectory Road at first you will pass houses on either side then the road narrows on a bend and becomes a country lane you continue on down for a futher 200 metres until you come to The Old Rectory on your left hand side Parking is on a gravelled area in adjacent to the house just past a large fir tree. Entrance into the courtyard is through a door in the wall to your left.;
