Welcome to Brendon House a 4 Star country Guest House restaurant and tea garden nestling in the tranquil Brendon Valley at the very heart of Exmoor. Formerly a farmhouse Brendon House was built circa 1780 and still retains many of the original features and character and sits in around an acre of mature gardens in a very sunny and tranquil location on the outskirts of Brendon village. We are located only a couple of miles from the rugged North Devon coast and the coastal fishing village of Lynmouth. There are truly wonderful walks through wood areas by the river Moorland traditional Exmoor farmland and the dramatic coastal path to be enjoyed. From the house the Brendon Valley sweeps east to Malmsmead brought to fame by the book "Lorna Doone" and west to Watersmeet then onward to the villages of Lynton and Lynmouth. Exmoor National Park has been designated the first International Dark Sky Reserve in Europe and is home to some of the darkest skies in the country so it's a great place to gaze at the stars. Good spots are Holdstone Hill County Gate Brendon Two Gates Webbers Post Anstey Gate Haddon Hill and Wimbleball Lake. There is a comfortable residents lounge with log fire in the winter and an award winning restaurant. Owners and restaurateurs Ian & Sandra Rigby take great pride in serving delicious wholesome country style dishes prepared from local meats seafood and game. Seasonal vegetables are sourced locally and supplemented with fresh organically grown produce from the kitchen garden.
Brendon House is a former traditional farmhouse retaining many of it's original features and although not large all rooms are ensuite comfortable and decorated to a high standard with satellite TV and tea and coffee making facilities. All rooms have views out over the village or surrounding picturesque farmland.
Brendon House is a small family run guesthouse offering the level of personal service and facilities you would expect from this type of establishment. We have a comfortable residents lounge with bar service award winning licensed restaurant and large mature gardens. We are located in a quiet safe tranquil area of the Exmoor National Park offer in the perfect "get away from it all" experience.

- Brendon House has a cosy 20 seat dining room with views to the front and rear garden. Throughout the summer there is a tea garden that is open serving light lunches and award winning cream teas. In the evening dinner is available. Ian and Sandra have gained a reputation for providing their guests with wholesome country cooking that reflects the true taste of Exmoor. In this respect the "Exmoor Game Selection" has proved to be particularly popular with diners at Brendon House.

Directions:
If you are traveling south on the M5 you should leave at J23 (Bridgewater) and take the A39 signed for Minehead. Follow A39 to Porlock and onwards heading for Lynton and Lynmouth. About a mile after you cross the county boundary into Devon you will see Brendon signed on your left. Follow the hill down to river and cross the river road-bridge where you will find Brendon House immediately in front of you.;
