Magnificently situated within Northumberland's National Park Saughy Rigg is within sight (less than 1 mile) of Hadrian's Wall. Wonderful walks begin at our doorstep. Lapwings Curlew and Skylarks are a common sight in the summer months. There is a comfortable sitting-room for guest use and each room has its own TV and tea/coffee-making facilities. The accommodation is warm and comfortable and guests can relax in the peaceful atmosphere. We have had so many compliments about our meals it would be difficult to list them all. Breakfasts are very generous and cooked freshly to order (vegetarians or special diets are no problem). We now have a table licence and keep a small selection of wine beer and lager. Evening meals are 3 courses and we take pride in presenting wholesome freshly-cooked food using local organic fresh produce (we have our own chickens and grow most of our own vegetables). Walkers and cyclists can benefit from our luggage-forwarding service and we can pick up guests from local public transport. We are keen walkers ourselves and feel able to understand the needs of our guests.
All rooms are en-suite with showers and some also have baths. All have been tastefully decorated to reflect the character of the farm which dates from 1760. All the rooms are comfortably furnished with quality beds and have hospitality trays stocked with Fair Trade tea and coffee. The bathrooms are stocked with hand made local toiletries. Guests can choose from twin double single or family rooms.
All guests receive a warm friendly welcome with a cup of tea or coffee and a piece of home made cake on arrival. There is a comfortable and cosy lounge with TV DVD and a selection of books. We offer a pick up and set down service for trail walkers and will also pick guests up from local public transport points. We offer walkers and cyclists packed lunches drying and laundry facilities and luggage transfer or liaison with transfer companies.

Eco Policy:
At Saughy Rigg we care about our beautiful area and do our best to ensure that our business creates as little damage as possible. To this end we have invested in a number of Green measures: - a ground source heat pump to heat our newest wing of the building. This takes latent heat from beneath our fields and transfers it to our under floor heating system - solar panels on our south facing roof provide most of our hot water - installing a biomass boiler to heat the remainder of our building - recycling most of our rubbish - sourcing food as closely as possible to our premises to cut down on food miles - low energy light bulbs wherever possible - our buildings are insulated to levels exceeding those recommended by buildings regulations - we encourage the most environmentally friendly tourists of all - walkers and cyclists!!
