As the most tranquil place in England the vast Kielder Water & Forest Park is an amazing oasis where adventure and stunning scenery combine in a landscape rarely seen in England. With a 27 mile shoreline Kielder Water is the largest man-made lake in Northern Europe and Kielder Forest the largest planted forest in Northern Europe which means there is plenty to experience and enjoy. Twenty Seven B&B actively supported the application by KW&FP and NNPA for Dark Sky Park Status for the area which was granted at Gold Tier level as Northumberland International Dark Sky Park Kielder is a great arena for outdoor pursuits with plenty of fresh air and clean spring water. If you are into walking orienteering running cycling mountaineering climbing hunting and fishing then Kielder is the place to visit. Nearby attractions for the less active include Kielder Castle Forestry Visitor Centre Kielder Salmon Hatchery tours the renowned Kielder Observatory for the best dark skies in England Kielder Birds of Prey Centre NWL Visitor Centre and Kielder Arts and Architecture. Twenty Seven is an ideal base to explore further afield: Alnwick Gardens & Castle (1.5 hr); Hadrian's Wall forts and path (45 mins); Northumberland coast and castles (2 hr) and Scottish border towns (45 mins). After a busy day you will receive a warm welcome where you will find a comfortable dining conservatory and lounge with log burner. All rooms have towels complimentary tea & coffee making facilities and toiletries. The local pub "the Anglers Arms" is only 5 minutes walk away from the B & B offering pub grub and real ales.

We are Dark Sky Friendly & actively supported the bid for KWFP & NNPA in achieving Dark Sky Park Status .Astronomy courses available. We are well equipped for walkers and cyclists and have washing and drying facilities and secure cycle storage available. We also do packed lunches with notice. We are the closest accommodation to Kielder Observatory. Evening meals can be arranged in advance during winter months when some local pubs are not open!

We try to minimise the packaging of all items used in the business. We recycle: glass paper card cardboard aluminium and steel cans some plastics. We use local produce especially eggs and meat to minimise food miles and maintain local businesses or combine deliveries with others. We use cfl lightbulbs where appropriate and minimise the number of electronic devices left on standby. We have no external floodlights especially as we are one of the areas with lowest light pollution in UK. We compost organic kitchen waste. We only use our wireless internet when guests actually require access. We do not launder towels daily unless guests request fresh ones.

Directions:
From east head for Newcastle on the A1 then A69 just past Hexham. Turn right signed Acomb and Chollerford A6079. Follow road through Acomb Wall and Chollerford then pick up signs for Kielder . Once at Kielder Water and you can see the dam follow the C200 for about 8 miles to Kielder village - Station garage is clearly seen on the left. Take the next right turn into Castle Drive. 'Twenty seven' is near the end of the street on the right opposite the Village Store.;
