The area offers lake shores river banks valley paths and forest tracks which offer a tremendous variety of walks for all ages and capabilities. Other activities include fishing canoeing bird watching rock climbing and pony trekking. The Shepherds Arms Bar is open to the public and is included in The Good Pub Guide and The CAMRA Good Beer Guide. Specialities are real ales and home cooked locally sourced produce. Directions:
Travelling along the M6 leave at Junction 40 onto the A66 to Cockermouth (25 miles). As you approach Cockermouth there is a large island with 'The Wool and Sheep Centre' on your left turn left here onto the A5086 to Egremont After about 5 miles you will see a sign for Ennerdale. Take the next left turn. Follow this road through the village of Kirkland and you will arrive at Ennerdale Bridge and The Shepherds Arms is on the right in the centre of the village.;
