The Country Guesthouse is centrally situated on St Mary's, the largest of the isles of Scilly, 25 minutes walk from the town centre. St. Mary's is the largest of the islands at 2? miles by 1? miles and is home to about three quarters of Scilly's population. It has the Town Hall, hospital / health centre, banks and most of the shops and larger hotels. Hugh Town is the 'capital' of the islands, situated on the sandbar which separates the Garrison from the rest of the island. Watermillbeach, the most secluded beach on St. Mary's,is only eight minutes walk away, and there are other wonderful walks to the deserted north of the island within easy reach. There are numerous activities available including walking, cycling and boat trips. The islands are a playground for those interested in exploring and having fun! Year round sailing, kayaking and windsurfing. Star Castle is at the centre of a fortification system around the west side of St. Mary?s known as the Garrison. It comprises an outer wall around the outcrop, protecting the town and the castle with strategically placed gun batteries at regular intervals around the outer wall, protecting the castle from all angles. The Isles of Scilly Country Guesthouse is a new enterprise, and wants to attract new people to the islands. All rooms have been redecorated and furnished to a high standard.
