Philip and Anna Meadway bid you welcome to Firgrove a member of 'Wolsey lodges'. Their period house set within one and a half acres of mature gardens overlooking the beautiful Vale of Clwyd lies between the city of Chester and Snowdonia - only a few minutes drive from Ruthin famous for the Medieval Banquets at Ruthin Castle and the unique Pentonville style gaol preserved as an exhibition of 19th century prison life. It also houses the County Archives which are used for family history research. Firgrove a Listed Grade II Georgian House of older origins was restored in the early 19th century by Lord William Bagot of Pool Park as a guest house on his estate. Anna and Philip have now brought this old house up to the standard expected by the modern traveller keeping the atmosphere and character of the bygone age catering for couples with their three individually decorated double bedrooms. At Firgrove we offer traditional bed and breakfast evening meals are also available. The house is centrally heated throughout and in the cooler evenings there are open log fires.

One ground floor double bedroom cottage suite and two double bedrooms with en-suite facilities are available. Broadband internet access available on WIFI system at no extra charge enabling guests to use their own laptops. Flat screen TV's in all bedrooms with FreeView available.

Firgrove provides CCTV monitored off road parking. The plantsmans garden has well defined paths with plenty of sitting areas. A pond and mature trees which attracts wildlife giving guests a true sense of the country. Within the house the sitting rooms have period furniture and an eclectic collection of pictures with the open log fire lit on cooler evenings. The house has been restored to modern standards with the character of yesteryear.

Mobility Description:
No steps from gravel car park. One step into main house and all bedrooms are on first floor. Downstairs toilet is available for guest's use. Access to the ground floor Cottage Suite is on level with no interior steps. The bathroom is a 'wet-room' with wall-hung toilet wash basin and adjustable power shower (a special stool is available).

Dining Facilities:

• A period dining room traditionally furnished with Georgian furniture where guests sit at a large table for breakfast. It is always a hosted evening meal that can be available by prior arrangement with local produce used wherever possible to give the diner a true taste of Wales. Diners are served complimentary wine selected from the cellar of Firgrove to match that evenings' menu. The menu choice changes according to market availability every day.

Directions:
Exit Ruthin on the A494 to Bala... at mini-roundabout go straight on the B5105 (signposted Cerrig y Drudion). Pass St Mwrog's Church on the right and The Cross Keys Inn on the left. Remain on this road and travel aprox. 0.25 miles up hill. Firgove is a large house set above the road on the right with large pine trees on the roadside. The entrance has 2 large posts and a large stone name plate. There is ample parking and turning space at the top of the drive.;
