The Almond Tree Houses are two converted stables, transformed into adjoining houses sharing a pretty pool in a lovely garden. The accommodation is set in a completely rural hamlet called Vrouchas, with the neighbouring villages of Loumas and Skinias close by. Guests will be able to make the most of their stay from this base, as it's a great retreat for those who want to avoid the hubbub of modern living and enjoy life's simple comforts. The unpretentious neighbouring houses of the hamlet exist in a haphazard fashion, mixed in between crumbling walls covered in ivy and left over from a bygone age. Vrouchas itself is surrounded by greenery and olive groves, sweeping downhill to the azure sea.
The Almond Tree Houses have been renovated in this traditional setting to make the most of these magnificent views, which can be seen from the balcony of the second house, inspiring you each morning as you awake. Al fresco dining offers up a spectacular view, making use of the open kitchen area, shared by both houses in the garden.
The owners have retained the character within each house, furnishing the rooms with traditional style furniture and the wooden beamed ceilings meet thick stone walls, excellent for keeping the temperature cool inside the house. The kitchen has all you need to prepare meals which can be eaten on the terrace area while enjoying the views and the pool. Alternatively, head into nearby Plaka and Elounda to sample typical Cretan food, in a variety of fish tavernas and traditional 'ouzeries'.
