A former railway gatekeeper's cottage this single storey accommodation enjoys rural views of the Yorkshire Wolds. It has recently been extended and fully updated to give a comfortable and relaxing stay in this lovely area. We offer guests use of the extensive gardenBBQ and there is ample parking available. Fimber Gatehouse was one of the railway crossing gate-keepers cottages on the Driffield to Malton line. Situated between York and the coast in the Yorkshire Wolds Fimber Gate provides an excellent base for exploring cities market towns countryside and the coast. Nearby stately homes include Castle Howard Burton Agnes Hall Sledmere House and Sewerby Hall and Gardens. If museums hold your interest Eden Camp Elvington Air Museum and the many different offerings of York and Hull are all within easy reach. In such an area of outstanding beauty it is not surprising that there are many walks including the 79 mile Wolds Way and cycle routes for all abilities. Nearby market towns like Malton Driffield and Pocklington provide an enjoyable day out and the beautiful town of Beverley known for its Minster and racecourse. No holiday is complete without the obligatory day at the seaside also easily accessible from Fimber Gate. Breakfast is served in the large kitchen. Our local butcher provides us with home cured bacon sausages and black pudding. Fruit in season is offered with yoghurts freshly baked croissants and home baked breads are also available with a variety of homemade preserves.
