The House was filmed for Channel 4's ?Grand Designs? and aired in the latest series, 7, when Robert and Milla found a plot overlooking Lake Windermere in the Lake District National Park and built a house with a domed grass-covered roof. As part of the sustainable design an enormous spine wall runs through the centre of the house, built from stone dug out of the ground on-site. One wing of the house has three unique boutique guest suites, all with panoramic views of Windermere, each with lounge area, open plan bedroom, dining area and a galley kitchen equipped with coffee maker, toaster, fridge, Smeg hob and dishwasher, along with all the right things to make the perfect breakfast. All rooms come with a complimentary breakfast hamper delivered fresh to your room every day. Each room has a balcony with outstanding views of the lake and the Lake District landscape. The suites have been designed as simple open plan spaces, with an eclectic mix of furniture, both contemporary and vintage to create comfortable living for your stay. All bathrooms have Villeroy & Boch suites, tiled with vibrant colours, reflecting the architecture of the house. Our three rooms are priced accordingly; the ?Green Room? is the largest suite at 450 sq feet with Villeroy & Boch bathroom suite with walk in shower and a large wooden bathtub screened by a feature timber curved wall. The ?Orange Room? is 280 sq ft with Villeroy and Boch bathroom with extra deep bathtub. The 'Rose Room' is 300 sq ft has a feature timber wall and a Villeroy and Boch bathroom suite. From October 2011 there will be a private indoor pool available at the house, which can be booked on a diary basis for our guests to use privately. With a wild flower grass roof the house nestles in National Trust woodland in a peaceful location, yet is only a five minute walk to the shores of Lake Windermere, where Bowness has a fabulous choice of restaurants and activities.
