Hilltop House is a 16th century farmhouse located in the picturesque Upper Wharfedale village of Starbotton. With a datestone of 1670 the house is steeped in history with many original features and a Grade II listing. The beamed dining room where breakfast is served has a splendid inglenook fireplace original to the house with a beef loft above and original hooks. Originally a working farm the house was owned by the Rathmell family from its beginnings until acquired by Nick and Claire Procter in 2005. Over the years it has changed from humble farmhouse to elegant family home with several early Georgian additions. Various colourful characters have occupied Hilltop over the years including Clement Roebuck a well known Huddersfield businessman who collected over 140 paintings many of which featured Hilltop and the surrounding area and were affectionately known as the Roebuck collection. The paintings were bequeathed to the town of Skipton on his death in 1987. Hilltop is perfectly placed for walking right from the door! Footpaths to Buckden Pike and The Dales Way are footsteps away! Beautiful views surround the house which overlooks the village. Finding us is very easy locate the village pub The Fox and Hounds and when travelling from the south take the turn immediately after the pub. (Please note that although this turning is narrow it is perfectly passable in a regular sized car!) Turn left at top for Hilltop.
There are three lovely rooms at Hilltop all decorated in english country house style warm and comfortable with en-suite shower facilities. Located in the stable block. En-suite quality bed and furnishings and a terrace to take in views of beautiful Upper Wharfedale.
