The Spread Eagle is an 18th Century AA 4 Star inn at Stourhead and the decor has bought out the best of this handsome building with stone floors painted beams and big windows which look out onto a unique courtyard. Our bar offers a choice of local hand pumped Real Ales Kilmington Ale which is made by the Wessex Brewery less than 2 miles from the Estate Butcombe Original and guest ales. We also have Ashton Press and Lilleys Apple & Pear Ciders on draught and these compliment a range of draught Lagers and Beers Butcombe Blonde Premium Beer being popular. The kitchen offer menus that source as much regional produce as possible such as Free Range Eggs from St Martins Farm just off the Estate Wiltshire Game Steaks and Rare Roasted English Beef from the West Country and Fish from our supplier in Dorset. Some of our most popular dishes are Ploughman`s Lunch served with our Homemade Kilmington Ale and Apple Chutney Traditional Ham Eggs & Chips Smoked Mackerel & New Potato Salad and Avocado & Halloumi Burger. We are less than 2 hours drive from London just off the A303 with trains running direct from London Waterloo to Gillingham Dorset every hour and we are then less than 15 mins drive from the station.
