The village of Haughley is situated just off the A14 3 miles NW of Stowmarket in the county of Suffolk. Suffolk is an unspoilt county which was the inspiration of artists Thomas Gainsborough and John Constable. It is famed for its villages and towns of timber framed buildings and magnificent churches such as Lavenham Long Melford and Bury St Edmunds. There is the heritage coast with its attractive towns such as Southwold. The world famous horse racing town of Newmarket home of the National Stud. Not forgetting the well known Aldeburgh Festival. All within easy reach of Haughley which is in the centre of Suffolk. The University town of Cambridge is only 40 minutes away. The three guest bedrooms are in the oldest part of the house and comprise two double and one twin all en-suite with TV and tea making facilities if desired. We have a stair lift if required. We are a non smoking household. Pre-dinner drinks can be taken in either the oak panelled drawing room or the attractive sitting room. Dinner is served in the elegant dining room. Afternoon tea can be taken in the garden or on cooler days in the Victorian greenhouse in the kitchen garden where you can view the vegetables that you will eat at dinner! The garden is some three acres during the shooting season pheasants use it as a refuge and can often be seen looking through the French windows! There is an old croquet lawn which guests are free to use. There are many and varied walks available from the house. We have no hard-and-fast rules regarding arrival and departure times but in general most guests arrive between 4.00 and 6.00 pm. If you are going to be later or earlier than this we would be grateful for prior warning. We would ask that you vacate your room by 10.30 am to allow for the room to be prepared for following guests. Afternoon tea is available between 4.00 and 5.30pm on the day of arrival.
