Stenmuir Farmhouse built in the 1850's is set rurally in the heart of the beautiful Scottish Borders. 1 mile from the tiny village of Hume and less than 10 mins drive from Kelso. Our family home offers a purpose built ground floor private annex with ensuite bedroom guest lounge/dinner accomodating up to 4 adults. Accessible by it's own front door a small outside seating area looks onto our family garden. We are very happy to provide you with food to feed our ducks. Dogs and HORSES welcome with ADVANCED NOTICE ONLY contact direct please do not book online if you have animals. Guests have use of a fridge mini oven toaster egg boiler kettle and are 'invited to prepare breakfast for themselves at a time convenient to them'. You are also welcome to bring back an evening meal to heat in the oven. There is plenty of spare china avaliable. Our well stocked bird table attracts a variety of local species and being in such a quite area its is often possible to hear the owls woodpeckers kestrels and buzzards. We have frequently seen deer and foxes running at the bottom of the garden. A short walk from the house will take you to the top of Hareheugh Crags and the site of an ancient hill fort with magnificant views. Situated centrally in the Borders close to the picturesque town of Kelso which offers a variety of independant shops restaurtants and tea room's with Edinburgh just over an hour away by car and Berwick upon Tweed on the east cost of England 40 mins by car we are well placed for short breaks or long relaxing holidays. The newly built and tastefully decorated bedroom is well appointed with superking sized bed plenty of wooden draws and a long mirror. There is a wardrobe with long hanging space. The ensuite bathroom includes a double size power shower toilet and sink. Guest have use of iron and ironing board and hairdryer. We have a sofa bed in the lounge which will convert into a double bed to provide family accomodation.
A local taxi firm can arrange collection from airport or rail station at guest expense. Guests are welcome to use our intrnet access however it is slow and intermittent. One of the priviladges of living rurally i afraid. Please advise if you need a cot and high chair 24hours before arrival.

Mobility Description:
The accomodation is all on the ground floor. Although there is a loose stone payway to guest accomodation we are happy to allow access through our family area for those guests in wheel chairs. There are no fixed grab rails in the bathroom however we do have a double sized shower so a plastic seat can be provided for use there in. Please advise 48 hours before arriving if you require this. If you are celiac or have any other food intollerances we are happy for you to bring your own specialised to store in fridge in guest accomodation. If you are a diabetic you have access to the fridge in the guest accomodation to store any insulin if required.

From kelso take A6089 to Edinburgh. After approx 5 miles take right signposted Sweethope and Whitehill. At end of this road take left. At top of hill enjoy view and see Stenmuir on right down hill. You will see pond from here. Drive down hill turn right after 150yds from top of hill. Pass 2 white cottages on left. Parking area for B7B on right. PLEASE NOTE: sat nav's will take you to Falside hill. With your back to the row of cottages look south across the field thats us directly opposite.;
