Kingshouse sits at the foot of Balquhidder Glen in the Central Highlands. Surrounded by beautiful scenery and set in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The hotel is directly on The Rob Roy Way and National Cycle Route 7. This truly is Rob Roy country as he lived the latter part of his life in Balquhidder and is buried in the churchyard just 2 miles from the hotel. We are also minutes away from The Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. The hotel dates back to the 1770's and stands on the site of a royal hunting lodge from the time of the Stuart Kings. The hunting lodge was built in 1590 and was used by King James VI. There is a wealth of history to discover in the surrounding area. The atmosphere of the hotel is welcoming relaxed and homely especially in The Rob Roy Bar with it's open fire. We very much enjoy spending an evening with our guests and learning about where they have come from as well as passing on our knowledge of the local area. The Rob Roy Bar is situated at one end of the hotel and access is via an entrance at the gable end. It is cosy and welcoming with an open fire and is decorated with MacGregor tartan and old artefacts. This is often where you will find walkers and cyclists warming themselves by the fire (or dogs!). The pub is very dog friendly and is surrounded by great walks.
Kingshouse has 5 double rooms 1 twin room and 1 family room. The family room can be made up as 3 single beds or a kingsize bed and 1 single bed. All of the rooms are en-suite with a bath and overhead shower except the twin and one of the doubles which have showers only.
