There are parks located throughout the town one of the most popular and largest being Alexandra Park opened in 1882 by the Prince and Princess of Wales. The nearby town of Battle site of the Battle of Hastings where William Duke of Normandy defeated King Harold II to become William I in 1066 making it the most famous battle in English history. Rye is a small town not too far from the Hastings from as early as the Roman times it was an important place of shipment and storage of iron. Rye being part of the Cinque Ports Confederation and a bastion against invasion on the Channel Coast has always had close links with the crown. Rye Battle and many other close towns are all reachable via Train. For an additional reasonable cost we provide transport for our guests from or to the airports of London and also to any other local distance!
