Traveling from Port Elizabeth to Grahamstown (Makanda), take the N2 while avoiding Colchester. After 11 km past Colchester, use the right lane at the N10 Cradock/Paterson split and continue for 43 km, passing Paterson until reaching the Alicedale sign. Turn right and drive 11 km on the tar road until spotting the Eagles Crag/Bayethe/Jean Byrd Born Free Foundation Sanctuary sign on the right. Enter the reserve for the Northern Welcome Lounge; guests at Eagles Crag and Bayethe will check in there and be transferred to their lodges, a journey of about 30 minutes.
