Situated in the heart of the Peak District The Waterloo has much to offer to those who find pleasure in the countryside. There are many places of interest quite near including walks and climbs; plus museums caves statley homes like Chatsworth and haddon hall and market towns of Bakewell and Buxton (both only 6 miles away). plenty to do and plenty to see ! This hotel dates from 1817 and no doubt was named after the famous battle of the same name . before then it was known as sough farm because the drain (sough) from a local lead mine ran past .The main (A6) had not been built by the but only a few years later The Waterloo became a coaching house where horses which had pulled vehicles up from Buxton or Bakewell were changed and given a well earned rest. Even today the odd motorist will pull in to allow his overheated radiator to cool while he or she can enjoy the warmth of our real log-fire and friendly relaxing atmosphere.drinks and home-made food prove popular with our regular customers and are modestly priced.
