55 km northeast of Savonlinna, Lake Saimaa / Orivesi 30 m , gently deepening water,firm , natural sand bottom, own boat. 474 is approx. 250 m away. The deep channel between Savonlinna and Joensuu is located less than 1 km away. By serate agreement a baby cot can be rented from the cottage’s caretaker.
There is good fishing possibilities in the lake, also fishing guide services available by separate agreement. Berry picking areas start right behind the house. In winter, maintained cross country ski trails can be found 4 km away. Savonranta school's outdoor tracks are illuminated 1 km trail as well as 2 km and 3 km.
In addition there is Kirveslahti’s 8 km trail. School track is connected to the ice conditions permitting to ski resort Lekotti’s 15 km partially lit trails. From the cottages can be easily accessed nationwide snowmobile trail, which passes through the resort from Savonlinna or Kitee through Kerimäki to Heinävesi. A snow mobile can also be rented from station Laamanen.
Lekotti Ski resort is 4 km away. There are four relatively easy slopes, which are ideal especially for beginners and families with children. All slopes have snow during wintertime season and three of them are lighted. By separate agreement there is also ski instruction available in Finnish and Russian.
There is also Lekotti Family Vacation Club which offers a new kind of leisure activities. There is ag. 30 adventure obstacle course 1-8 meters above the ground. Everyone is free to choose the appropriate route, altitude and speed.
Kolovesi nationalpark, which is located 20 km away, is closed in winter due to the protection of the Saimaa ringed seal reproduction. But in the summer the national park can be visited, as well as canoeing and hiking. Paddling in the middle of the wilderness area you can admire the tranquility of Lake Saimaa, rocky cliffs, and perhaps also rare Saimaa ringed seal. Savonlinna town offers shopping in addition to a historical attraction in the Middle Ages built castle.
The Danish-born knight Erik Axelsson Tott built a mighty fortress strategically important Savo region. More recent history presents Raikuu Salpa Station, which is located by Paasniemen road more than 20 km away. There is also 1.5 km-long nature trail by Raikuu channel. The trail gives a opportunity to visit bunker and see the obstacles and armor stone wall constructions from three of the past wars.
