The Hotel Rural El Refugio is located in Cruz de Tejeda, in the centre of the island of Gran Canaria. The place is located in the middle of nature and at an altitude of over 1500 metres above sea level; a natural and scenic destination surrounded by the Sacred Mountains of Gran Canaria, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The hotel has a seasonal swimming pool, only open from June to September. It also has common areas with garden, terrace and a lounge-library with spectacular views of the Roque Bentayga and the highest peak in Spain, El Teide, on the island of Tenerife.

The Tajinaste dining room serves breakfast and dinner from the menu or à la carte.

The hotels rooms are bright and feature rustic décor with handmade furniture. Each room has a private bathroom, central heating and TV. The eleven rooms are divided into nine double rooms, five with double bed and four with twin beds, one triple room and one Garden Suite. The latter two rooms are not included in the tour operators contract and must be booked on request.
