Greenwood Grange s eco friendly holiday centre has been created within and around buildings built by Thomas Hardy s father in the nineteenth century. The cottage where Hardy was born is only a few hundred yards away and beautiful Thorncombe Wood borders our idyllic peaceful Dorset haven. We have transformed these ancient brick stone and slate barns and outbuildings into luxury accommodation for your dream holiday in this outstanding area of England. At Greenwood Grange we have 17 cottages which sleep from two to twelve people and we are open all year round. Here at Greenwood Grange our ethos is based on combining luxury with environmental responsibility. We have been awarded a 4/5 rating by English Country Cottages and have been awarded a Gold grade Green Tourism Business Scheme Award. In October we won Gold in the 2014 Dorset Tourism Awards - Self Catering Establishment of the year for the second year running and following our 2013 success we then went on to win the Bronze award at the South West Tourism awards. Greenwood Grange has a huge range of facilities for everyone to enjoy whatever age. We have tennis courts an indoor swimming pool badminton croquet and a games room ( games room not available Oct 31st - Dec 19th 2015 & Jan 2nd - March 6th 2016) which includes a children s play area and in the activity field our fantastic play yurt. There are many walks in the area including the 66 acres of mixed woodland and heath in Thorncombe Wood. The Jurassic Coast England s first natural World Heritage site is only a few miles away and there are gardens houses castles beautiful villages and so much more to explore. Dogs are allowed in certain properties and we have animals of our own hedgehogs Tess the cat who keeps the mice away deer badgers and masses of birdlife. Free range chickens a wormery composting system are in place. We can also provide grazing if you wish to bring your horse on holiday with you ! We are pleased to announce the arrival of our bee hive on site and our own honey is available to purchase. Our enthusiastic team is on hand to help you enjoy your holiday to the full and can answer any questions you have about Hardy country and all that is on offer in the area. And if you can t entirely escape the outside world there is free Wi-Fi available in each cottage.
