Set on the southern edge of town overlooking the Wigtown Bay & the Solway Firth Hillcrest was built in 1875 as a private house. It is an imposing Victorian villa retaining many original features which we have sympathetically brought up to date to provide all the modern facilities expected by guests today whilst retaining the charm and character of the house. All six of our rooms have ensuite facilities hospitality tray featuring a great range of Fairtrade products LCD TV digital radio alarm clock hairdryer & lovely bathroom essentials from Pure Lakes. We offer free wi-fi throughout the house secure bike storage & plenty of onsite parking. All rooms bar Moray are pet friendly (please see our Pets page for more details on our policy) We offer comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation together with evening meals (5 nights a week). Our passion for food is what drives us to focus on the fantastic range of local produce we have hereabouts and full details about eating with us are on our "Eating " page. Please note that if you would like dinner - this must be booked in advance as we only cooked for those pre-booked. Whether your perfect break includes Dark Sky star-gazing tea-tasting birdwatching (several of our rooms look directly to the RSPB Baldoon) walking cycling chocolate making beaches gardens like Threave Castle Kennedy or Logan rolling down a hill in a giant ball or being flying down a 820m zip wire at Laggan golf at one of the 20 odd courses within a one hour drive fishing or just relaxing and browsing the Wigtowns's many bookshops stay with us eat with us and share with us the beauty of Dumfries and Galloway.

We are committed to minimising our impact - so to that end we; Re-cycle paper cardboard glass bottles plastic bottles and cans on a weekly basis. The vast majority of our lightbulbs are low energy. We provide our guests with re-fillable bathroom products for use during their stay. Towels are not automatically replaced every day to cut down on unnecessary washing.

Mobility Description:
Our ground floor room offers a minimal step shower with grab rail and pull down seat. WHB has lever taps. This room has been designed for those with some mobility issues in mind but given that there are 4 steps up to the front door (with handrail on both sides) is not totally disabled friendly.

- Breakfast is served in our large airy dining room each morning. A set 3-course dinner is also available 5 evenings a week. Directions:
The A75 from Gretna and then Dumfries (allow 75 minutes) is usually a steady drive that once you reach the Bay of Fleet gives up some particularly fine coastal views. A word of warning here for followers of SATNAVs; Several systems will direct you to come off the A75 at Crocketford and take the A712 through New Galloway instead. If you like a more challenging journey then this is the way to come but you are unlikely to save any time.;
