Mill Dam Cottage is a quaint self-catering two- bedroom cottage in secluded surroundings on the southern side of Coniston. Due to the age of the property there are uneven surfaces low ceilings steep stairs and creepy floorboards. It is the perfect starting point to explore the Lake District with footpaths from the front door and public transport nearby. Or you could just relax in the front and rear garden with chimenea and outdoor seating enjoying the views over Coniston water and Grizedale forest. Away from the village yet within easy walking distance to the pubs. The cottage has been lovingly restored recently maintaining much of its character and yet adding modern facilities: including log burner TV WiFi DVD player fully fitted kitchen with electric oven ceramic hob microwave dishwasher washing machine and dryer. There is an electric shower and towel rail in the bathroom and a view over the lake from the main (front) bedroom. An initial supply of wood for the log burner is provided. The bridlepath to the top of Coniston Old Man passes close by and there are footpath links to the village and pubs. Coniston sailing Club is just down the hill with day membership available if you wish to launch a sailing boat electric boats are available from the boating centre accessed through the village. Please note the website only accepts bookings with a minimum stay of three nights arriving Monday and Friday. For arrivals any other day a longer minimum stay of may apply. Directions:
Set sat nav to LA21 8AW (further directions to follow at time of payment) From South M6 JCT 36 (30miles/ 48 min). Turn left onto A590 then follow towards Barrow. After about 15miles at the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto A5092. After 7miles turn right onto A5084. In Torver turn right onto A593 to Coniston. Turn left after the bus stop by the Sacred Heart Church. It is a steep narrow and windy lane. Arriving after dark is not recommend.;
