Mitchells of Chester is a wonderfully elegant Guest House owned and run by Helen & Colin Mitchell. We are Graded by VistitBritain Tourist Board and the AA at 5-STARS SILVER AWARD BREAKFAST AWARD; the highest graded Guest House in Chester and are now working towards the maximum GOLD. The house which dates back to the 1850's has been carefully restored to its original Victorian beauty whilst incorporating many modern comforts. It has steeply pitched slated roofs a sweeping staircase and tall rooms with mounded cornices providing a setting for many items of antique furniture. A large banqueting table forms the centre piece of the Dining Room. The Lounge looks out and down to unusual brick vaults tunnelling 3.00 metres under a quiet well maintained garden at the rear of the house. It has reading libraries each side of an open log fire in an original marble surround. All the Bedrooms are ensuite and are individually decorated in period style. Each has colour digital tv/dvd controlled central heating and a host of home-from-home accessories to help make your stay comfortable and relaxed. The Guest House enjoys an excellent location in Chester being less than 4 minutes drive from the city centre (1.2km /3/4 mile) or a pleasant and interesting 20 minute 'green' walk past mature houses of character in a select residential area over the River Dee with views across the Racecourse to the City Walls and immediately into historical streets. Chester is compact beautiful and the most complete walled city in Britain. It is the historical gem of North West England and is the gateway to North Wales. The delights to be enjoyed by the Visitor span 2000 years from the Roman Walls Norman Cathedral Medieval Rows the 16th Century racecourse the canal and railway of the industrial revolution right through to the latest designs in shopping malls.
Each Bedroom has an ensuite shower wash-basin and wc with towels flannels soaps shower gell etc. The Bedroom has antique bedhead wardrobe and dressing table comfortable chairs freeview colour tv/dvd Wi Fi clock/radio hospitality tray hair drier extra blankets bedside tables and lamps fire alarm and smoke detector shoe cleaning and repair kits a selection of magazines and local information controlled central heating. There is an iron and ironing board on each Landing.
We have a large Guests' Lounge with tv and 'Honesty Bar' together with a library of local reference books and maps fictional and non-fiction reading. There is a sitting out area in a compact landscaped walled garden.

- We can seat 6No Guests at a central banquetting table plus three further tables of four three two. The tables are antique french polished with individual place settings and complementing chairs. There is a beautiful period sideboard displaying a selection of cereals fruit yogurts and cheeses complementing a wide choice of cooked breakfast dishes. As in Victorian days the walls are covered with pictures tapestries plates and a long case wall clock; all lighted by a cut glass chandelier.

Directions:
When approaching from the north of the River Dee go to the city centre and join the inner ring road - mostly dual carriageway. Follow the signs out to Wrexham and North Wales (A483) past the racecourse and over the river to a roundabout where you will need to turn right to Saltney (A5104). We are 300 metres along this road Hough Green on the right hand side. Immediately past a 'No Entry' side road Howe Road turn into our forecourt.;
