Property location
In the early 20th century, the property came into the hands of Sir Astley and Sir Salton, before being passed to the publisher Accame, the last private owner prior to its acquisition in 1980. This acquisition was made possible through a public subscription led by the people of Varenna and the Friends of Varenna, with the goal of preserving it for public use. Today, the property is primarily owned by the Municipality of Varenna and other smaller public entities, with management entrusted to R Collection Hotels.
Rooms
Following a major restoration, the rooms of Villa Cipressi have been fully renovated while maintaining the enchanting charm of their history. The rooms are spread across the three buildings of the villa. Some are located in the Ancient Wing, which dates back to the 1300s, and have retained the captivating architectural features of that era, even after the restoration.
