Casa da Portela de Sampriz is a charming manor house located in the inland Minho town of Ponte da Barca. This magnificent seat is nestled on the slopes of Santa Rita Mountain halfway to the mythical remains of castle da Nobrega and the land of Magalhães (Ferdinand Magellan 14 78 /80-1521).
In the 18th century, Portela de Sampriz had extensive improvement works and expansion of the main building as well as the grounds, the chapel dedicated to St. Anthony, the central courtyard and the imposing entrance gate. Even today, under the ground floor of the main house can be observed several 15th century remains.
The farm, the granaries, the green fields and the secular trees are signs of the agricultural prosperity of the house and the Minho region.
