Old Park house has a long and convoluted history which can be traced back to as early as the 1480s. It witnessed the Abbey falling victim to Henry VIIIs enforced closures in the 1530s and became the ancient family mansion of the Hills of Attingham. Having survived the Great Good Friday Fire that ravaged Abbey Foregate in 1774 the house evolved from a private residence to an Inn from as early as the 1720s. Located on Old Abbey Foregate and beside Horsefair one of the oldest markets of the town Old Park House would have been the first prominent building on the approach into Shrewsbury from London. Fantastic original oak staircases large fireplaces and timber frames it is one of Shrewsburys most unique buildings. Not forgetting the views over-looking our breath-taking Benedictine Abbey (founded 1080) and Shrewsbury Abbey.
All our rooms are individual and have lashings of 15th century character. We have four-poster beds and inglenook fireplaces together with modern and luxurious ensuite facilities. All of our rooms our finished with the little things that make for a truly indulgent break- complimentary Molten Brown toiletries and fluffy bathrobes too! Many of the rooms also enjoy fine views towards Shrewsbury and the Ancient Abbey.

Directions:
Follow signs for M54 & North Wales. The M54 will lead directly into the A5. At the first round-a-bout take 1st exit for Shrewsbury. At next roundabout take the 4th exit signposted Shrewsbury this is London Road. Finally at the 3rd roundabout take the 3rd exit. You are now on Abbey Foregate. Follow the road straight down go through the traffic lights. The abbey will then be visible ahead. Just before the abbey turn right onto Abbey Foregate and take your second left.
